QCAR History

The Quad City Area REALTORS® (QCAR) has a legacy dating back to the early 20th century. The area’s first real estate board was established in Moline in 1910, with the Davenport board officially recognized by the National Association of REALTORS® on January 23, 1912. Over time, additional boards in Rock Island and Moline-East Moline emerged and eventually merged in 2004 to form the Quad City Area REALTOR Association. In 2020, the organization rebranded as QCAR – Quad City Area REALTORS® to reflect its unified identity and regional presence.

Today, QCAR proudly serves Rock Island, Henry, Mercer, Marshall, Stark and a portion of Bureau counties in Illinois, as well as Clinton and Scott counties and the city of Durant in Cedar County, Iowa. While our mission continues to focus on protecting and promoting the interests of REALTORS® and real estate consumers, QCAR also plays a vital role in supporting the local community.

Over the years, QCAR has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local causes, contributing to organizations that serve veterans, housing accessibility, education, and neighborhood revitalization. We remain deeply committed to giving back—whether through our annual fundraising events, community service projects, or charitable partnerships.

One of our most impactful initiatives is the Student Built Home Program, which partners with area schools to provide students hands-on experience in residential construction. Through this program, students learn valuable trade skills while contributing directly to the development of affordable housing in the community. These homes not only serve as a launching pad for young talent but also strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods.

At QCAR, our history is rooted in real estate—but our future is built on community.
